Catch On Group´s Programmes

Skilling up your Practice Based Commissioning Board

This Programme is aimed at a PBC Board that has been working together for at least 6 months. It is designed to help boards of PBC clusters and consortia identify the skills and competencies required to take PBC forward and to lead initiatives at a local level. This resource not only draws on Catch On’s extensive knowledge and experience of PBC, but encourages organisations to network and learn from each other in what is ultimately a shared process.

The Board Development Programme is delivered in three phases:

  • Assessment – we survey and interview participants so we can adapt the programme to meet the specific needs of the board and its members.
  • Delivery – there are six three-hour sessions, aimed at helping the board function more effectively as a team, and to assign roles to those whose individual strengths are best suited to them. Sessions cover an understanding of commissioning, data, and funding, developing a business case, and developing service specifications, as well as the role of leadership.
  • Moving forward – a full review of the learning, and help devising plans for the future. This can include delegation of roles and responsibilities, commissioning and monitoring processes, and developing closer ties with other organisations. This is also an opportunity to identify areas that may need further training or support.

This programme will include membership of Catch On’s informal e-network for advice and support and sharing experiences and ideas and access to Catch On’s extensive Tools and Templates library.
