Catch On Group´s Services
How We Work
Before we set about helping you achieve the best results possible, we like to develop an understanding of your current approach – as a team and as individuals. We always take time at the beginning of the process to get to the heart of exactly what you want from working with Catch On. Understanding each other from the outset and agreeing on specific, realistic goals helps us design a tailor-made programme that matches your needs and helps you achieve your goals more easily.
It´s as much about how you work as how we do. Every individual and organisational need is different, so we adapt our approach accordingly. We´re not a ´one size fits all´ organisation by any means, yet our combined expertise and knowledge means we´re equipped to help you deal with a wide range of challenges.
Practice Based Commissioning (PBC)
Since its introduction in 2003, progress in Practice Based Commissioning (PBC) has been generally variable in its uptake and level of success. In many areas, for example, a PCT lead – with a managerial background – has been given responsibility for managing and providing support to a cluster or consortium. Feedback collected by the Department of Health suggests many people appointed to these roles feel isolated and frustrated and, in particular, have difficulty adequately discharging their role due to its very nature. At Catch On we believe we are well placed to offer development and support to such managers to enable them to better effect their dual role for the benefit of change and patient experience.
Catch On provides managerial support both operationally and strategically to a number of PBC groups across the country, and uses this hands-on experience to develop the tools and templates that have already proven successful in infrastructures, lean working and clinical change.
We recognise that financial constraints may prevent some organisations investing in external management support, so we’ve developed packages that give PBC managers clinicians and consortia the coaching, advice and networks they need to achieve their objectives – while keeping costs at a minimum. This will include access to readymade templates for governance, accountability and practice agreements, business cases and information on the most appropriate company structure for commissioning.
Programmes
To support our face to face working and based on our learning from providing support to practice based commissioners and PCTs, we’ve developed a range of programmes to help you understand, prepare for and meet the challenges of widespread healthcare reform.
Expertly put together by people with years of NHS and pharmaceutical experience, these programmes get you to the heart of successful change processes. These are up-to-the-minute tools to help you ‘engage with change’ and get the most from your organisational team and its members.

Developing an Effective Profitable Productive Practice
DEP3 has been developed to help you understand the impact on your practice, of the move to the introduction of Minimum Practice Standards from 2011. You will be aware that there is now a new commission for Quality for health and social care called the Care Quality Commission. The CQC replaces all other commissions that have been responsible for assessing standards in the NHS.
To date independent contractors have not really been affected by the approach to advancing quality in the same way as other providers of care. Your colleagues in other organisations have had to become compliant with Standards for Better Health for some time now. Whist the exact detail of expectation for the Minimum Standards in General Practice is unknown, in order to help you prepare. for what is to come we have based the development of this programme on Standards for Better Health. In effect this process is about ensuring that GP practices not only have systems in place that will protect patients and staff and but also processes that will demonstrate compliant safe and effective services are being provided to the local registered population.
